Texture Tuesday -Mobile AL

Two weeks ago we decided to take a week off and go to Mobile, Alabama. Not having traveled to the south eastern portion of the country, I was thrilled to go. I could just hear those old houses calling my name. Hubby would have classes two days at Continental Motors to learn about his airplane engine. The company had things planned for the ladies and I maybe should have been more social but I had my own agenda and a rental car. Besides I had explorer blood in my veins and a cloak of bravery over my shoulders. It turned out I had an extra 1/2 day to myself and I squeezed every minute out of my free time.
One day I drove to Pensacola FL to the best outdoor Arts Festival ever. They even had the best food.
I found the oldest cemetery I've ever seen.
I managed to get within four feet of a pelican.
I captured my best ever sunset photo complete with fisherman casting his net.
I had a shrimp omelet for breakfast and bread pudding for desert every day.
I wandered the streets of downtown hoping for some street photography but didn't have a lot of luck. Mobile has the friendliest people ever and I'm hoping to go back next year.

This building was obviously not in use. I couldn't find any information on what it had been. It was pretty interesting, especially with the tattered banners hanging from the windows.

Textured with kk_Thursday and kk_0303.

These next three were shot with my iPhone and edited in Stackables, Skrwt, and Snapseed. Skrwt is a great app for straighten out the 'lines' in your images.

  2. You are really brave and just wonderful to venture out like this, it is something I would have done in my younger times so I am envious of your adventure. Love each and every one here, with the old house with the banners and you already know how much I love your iPhone images. Stackables is one of my favorite apps along with Snapseed and oh yeah Mixtures I don't think I could do without.

  3. The top old building is just gorgeous, and the angle you shot says it is very tall. You are are adventurous and brave to set out alone, but yes Mobile and Alabama is friendly. When I shot with a film point and shoot I captured a fisherman casting his net...it is one of my most favorite pictures. Looking forward to seeing some other shots from your trip. I loved the buckwheat pancakes I got there...I'm guessing the shrimp omelet and bread pudding were fantastic!

  11. I so often wish I had that cloak of bravery you spoke about, Roxi, but alas, I am a timid soul and I know there are lots of opportunities I've missed out on, but what a fantastic 1/2 day you had for yourself, and your images are simply amazing! It sure would be interesting to find out the history of that building ... old abandoned buildings like that do intrigue me for sure! You have a wonderful week!
