Hot Air

Do you ever talk yourself out of going? Getting out and taking photos of something specific that is? Sometimes I think I'm just lazy, especially when it comes to early morning.
Our annual hot air balloon festival was held recently and I told hubby I was planning on going either Saturday or Sunday.
Saturday we slept in.
As we were crawling in bed that night at 1AM I had this 'lazy' war going on in my head. I told myself, "This is it! You've never gone and tomorrow you are going! There is no question about it." So I asked hubby if he was going with me, his response, "It's 1AM!" I said, "that's ok, you don't have to go, I'll be fine." (Knowing I would feel freer to do whatever when I got there.)
So the alarm was set!
Two friends from the Camera Club showed up on the 'bridge' to meet me. That was a nice surprise. In fact I thought it strange there wasn't a bigger crowd.
The birds in the reeds before sunrise were awesome.
The sunrise was awesome.
When they started getting out the first balloon, I headed down for some close shots.

Silly me I should have known the guys on the bridge knew what they were doing. I headed back there just in time to catch a few reflection shots.
I shot some video this trip because of an iMovie class I was taking at the time and made the following clip. Xanthe's Time Capsule's class is just now starting so I intend to make it longer and spice up my photos. In case my embedding attempt didn't work, here is the video link.
I'm linking up with Helen for Weekend Walks.

  6. Did you hear a couple intakes of breath just now? You left me wishing I'd been there too, camera in hand. I am so glad you won the 'Lazy War.' Well done!

  7. I am so glad that you went. It is so easy to stay in bed, but the pay off from going is far greater.

  10. Wow - that's fascinating! I love the reflections! I'd so much love to get up early to capture the good light but I can never get out of bed early enough. I think I need a challenge!
