Macro on an iPhone

Have you ever been frustrated when trying to get a close-up photo of something only to have it be blurry? Enter the Olloclip. (I got mine at Photojojo, a very cool place to shop.) This cool little gadget will enable not only macro photos, but wide angle and fisheye. Here are a few of my first macros. The hardest part is trying to hold the camera still while shooting. So here's the best tip in the world! Press and hold the 'shutter' button until just the right moment, then lift your finger to take the shot. This also works wonders when shooting kids. I do this a lot now. Did you also know that you can use the volume up on your headphones like a shutter lease? This would come in quite handy if you happen to have your phone attached to a tripod or sitting on something.

This little stinker of a weed is my arch enemy. But the tiny flower is beautiful. (next 2 photos)
Henbit is the name.

I also ordered this little dude. Gorillapod GripTight PhoneCam ClampStand
Here I am taking my first shot. (in the mirror.)

Happy shooting!

  2. Fun tripod for the your phone. I have a gorillapod for my big camera, works great for low to the ground shots.

  3. The ollochip works pretty well in a pinch doesn't it, just wish it was easier to put on my phone without taking the cover off. That always prevents me from using it more often. Otherwise I do like it. Love the one of the blue berries or little flowers #3. I don't know what that is but it sure is a wonderful color.

  6. Isn't the Olloclip awesome! Your images are stunning. I have my Olloclip in my purse so I can whip it out anytime inspiration strikes. The nursery is a great place for that!
Yes, at Macworld I learned the + volume button acts as a shutter release with the native camera. What an eye-opener! The whole room when ahhh when the presenter demonstrated it! Great post.
