Texture Tuesday May 27

It's the free and easy edition today, over at Kim's Texture Tuesday. Something I've been waiting for! So guess what? You are getting more peonies and a text tip.
This first one is textured with kk_0405 and kk_simple2. Layers shot below.

Here's a tip….After you've finished your quote…
  1. Merge the text layers together.
  2. Make a selection by Command(Control) clicking the thumbnail of that layer.
  3. Click on the eyeball to turn off the visibility of the text layer.
  4. In the Adjustment panel (or Menu) add a Levels adjustment layer. Your selection will disappear and look like nothing has happened.
  5. Now adjust the levels slider by pulling the left slider to the right to darken and reveal your text.

I posted this yesterday but just had to show it again. I'm trying to work through the Start2Finish class a second time around and make improvements. A collage from the above shoot with my peonies starting to dry up.
Come on over and check out what everyone's been texturing.

Photoshop Tutorial -Overlays

Linking up with Kim at Friday Finds and Nancy with Random 5 on Friday.

1. I actually had a pumpkin patch this year and got to start picking this week. It was thrilling if I do say so.
2. I've had the blahs all week, and by Thursday realized my poor body was run down and trying to fight off everything.
3. Texas Tech beat TCU last night. The guy behind me got a text saying his buddy just saw him on TV. Did you see me? I'm sure you weren't watching. I was there under duress. I took a batter booster for my phone and thought I was all set but then realized I forgot the adapter. Actually had to watch the 4th quarter.
4. We are finally getting some cooler nights and mornings. How refreshing.
5. I did it. I finally made a video tutorial and published it. First I put it on Vimeo. Then I decided to publish it to Youtube for more exposure and hopefully sales. I'm not impressed with the way they un-cropped it. So, which do I embed on my post? I'll try the Youtube, but put the link to the Vimeo one too.
I also have a new set of textures in the shop, on sale, and if you happened to read a much earlier post you might remember that my blog readers get an additional 50% off with this coupon code. BlogBuddies. (good through the end of the year)

It's Fun to Find Stuff

Kim Klassen has started a new link up called Friday Finds. This is what I found at my second favorite antique store in Colorado City, TX a couple weeks ago. I don't think the pitcher is all that old but the color was to die for. (It said FTD on the bottom.) There were 2 sizes of the cobalt blue bottle. I should have gotten them both. They just happened to go perfectly with the little bouquet I had just picked.

Textured with: kk_cherish Muti 93%
kk_grungeframed SoftL 42%
This was my before. What a difference! Good thing I shoot in raw. I believe I was attempting 'total' manual settings that day.

f/6.7 1/90s 400 ISO Canon 50mm f/1.8II.  A little 'haze' play in the Lightroom channels. Background, Allyse Overlays

f/6.7 1/90s 400 ISO Canon 50mm f/1.8II.  More 'hazy' play in Photoshop Curves Adjustment.

Lightroom Adjustments, f/5.6 1/90s 400 ISO Canon 18-135 126mm.

And a shot from above. Dreamy look from lowered clarity and split-toning play.

Have a great weekend!

Fragments and Overlays and Brushes

Introducing Candace Overlays, Allyse Overlays, & Fragments Brushes. All are sale this weekend for the big National Scrapbooking Day Celebration. If you missed my free papers made with some of these overlays, check this post.
A little Day 14 homework from my B2 class. A few of my iris have bloomed between freezes.

You'll find these in my ESS store, everything is 50% off through the 6th.
One of the cool things about the Fragments brush set is that if you use CS6 there is a special set for you that is 3600px x 3600px. Perfect for the whole page.

Overlays

I am honored to be featured as the artist of the month on Stacie Spencer's blog. Check her out here. She makes the most wonderful jewelry and if you are a photography lover, she has an awesome camera charm.
I have 5 digital papers for you this week. It's National Scrapbooking Day this Saturday, so why not celebrate with a freebie! The link is below.
I made them with some new overlays that will be in my shop soon at E-scapeandscrap. Speaking of the shop.... Everything in my store is on sale at 50% off through My 6th.
Each paper was created by using several papers from Kaytie's Day and Kaytie's Day Mini kit 'clipped' to different overlays. (see my example in Photoshop layers panel) Like most things in Photoshop there's more than one way to skin a cat, ouch.
1. Hover your mouse between the 2 layers with the option/alt key held down, when the 2-colored circle (or square in CS6) with a down-facing arrow shows up, click.
2. Select the top layer,  Go to Layer> Create Clipping Mask
3. Shift/Command/G or that would be Shift/Control/G on a PC.

Here are 2 layouts using the papers.
If you could see behind the scenes..... I have my iPhone on a tripod I found at Photojojo (this store is fabulous!) with the timer set to 5 seconds using the Camera+ App. I practiced in the hotel room before I went down to the beach to make a fool of myself.

Supplies:
More Paper Frames
Butterfly and staples from Kaytie's Day
Stitches (recolored) from Stitches Messy

A preview of a few of the overlays that will be in my new Overlay set.
