Early Morning Thoughts

As I laid in bed this morning with one eye open, I began remembering hubby's comments on yesterday's glorious sunrise (which I missed). I hopped out of bed, peeked out the window and OMG, the sky was pink! Throwing on my clothes, I dashed out the door only to find it was fading fast.
Oh well, I also wanted to capture my newly found 'old barn'. Just 2 miles away and in the city limits, it had been too well hidden by tons of farm machinery and junk until just recently. The corner was purchased by Walmart last year, much to the dismay of the rich folks that built new houses on the north side of the street. Now it was exposed in all it's glory.
Since the sun was still behind the clouds, I first stopped for coffee and a breakfast burrito to go and went to park pond where I intended to just sit and BE (Finally, my word for 2015). I shot photos of the geese, other birds and the burr oak acorns. I gathered up a grocery bag full for still life shots and decided to process and post a sunrise photo for Instagram.
(Mextures app)

While cruising my Instagram feed I found that my still life shot (from yesterday, second photo) was chosen along with @7seasphotography for the #mystillsundaycompetition that Kim Klassen hosts. I had such overwhelming emotions about this. These thoughts came to mind, I wrote them down and decided more artists need to hear this. It's still shaking me to the core.
(Snapseed, retrolux filter, Over)

Back to the barn, This shot was taken a few days ago in bad light and with a nasty sun flare. This is one of 5 totally different edits I did in Stackables and Lenslight. You'll have to tune in Monday for all the details on Mobile Art Monday.

Instagram Pics

Two posts in one day!
I'm trying out embedding my Instagram photo to my blog. This one is done with Waterlogue (geez, I spelled it wrong on the pic, didn't think it looked right), iColorama and ImageBlender. Below is the 'sequence' of events.
I have learned however if I am going to link to another blog, like Barb's, this doesn't give a photo preview to choose from when 'embedding'.

At the Park

If it's ever warm enough on the weekend we like to take our dog to the park. He got cut when it came to picking photos this time. But I came away with wonderful pics to edit from my phone.
All done on the iPad with DistressedFX. I can't say enough about this app. It's simple, yet you can do some very involved edits with it also.

iPhoneography Year in Review

If I had thought of it soon enough I would've gone through this year's posts and picked out a few of my favorites.
I did however make a few videos of some of my favorite Instagram photos from this year…
I used Flipagram and hope to do one more.
It's still LIFE

Amarillo by Instagram

Let's just say 'I' made a trip to Amarillo last week. Hubby had been there all week with one change of clothes and I won't even go into that.
The last time I drove up there (for similar reasons) was just 5 weeks ago. It's such a boring trip, even if you're a photographer and especially if you can't stop. So I entertained my self with my phone taking pictures. This time it was much easier to shoot them with the Instagram app and crop and edit while driving. (Did I really say that?) Those 2 hours just flew by. I even tried out the new video feature. I had to try several times because I was trying to time it to a certain part of a song. It's currently 110 pictures back on my Instagram feed, just before the watermelon photo. (Not sure how that got stuck in the Amarillo shots.) My Instagram
At least we can drive 75 MPH.

You can be 'close' to Happy in 3/4 of a mile.

Probably the most interesting shot from the first trip. You can see why this drive is boring. I may have to make one more trip in the next week or so. This time driving back by myself, and if I have the time will take my big girl camera and make a few stops along the way.

These two were captured just this past trip. Road Instagram had lost it's appeal to safety. So I only shot a couple.

This was actually edited lated in DistressedFX.
It became a challenge to click at just right time while looking at the road. I suppose this is like 'shooting from the hip'. I'll call it shooting out the window.
Instagram Tip: If you set your phone in Airplane Mode it will not be able to load the photo onto your Instagram feed. Go ahead and try like normal, it will say failed. CHeck to make sure it's in your Camera Roll and the go back to Instagram and you can click to delete it. It can always be uploaded later.
The fun really started that night at Fire Slice Pizza. We met up with friends, Barbara and Jeff. Good wine, strange Belgian beer but good, awesome salad with homemade croutons from rosemary focaccia bread. Most awesome pizza. I just remember it had bacon and cilantro and who knows what else on it. And the best service in town. They even display photography and art from the locals. My kind of place.

I was able to give my friend some Instagram lessons. Too fun. She's off and running now. I've pondered teaching an iphoneography class locally. We'll see if I really need to add that to the load.
This was just the beginning.
Stay tuned for a Saturday on Sixth Street, the old Route 66.

Insta pics of the Week 7-21

Instagram pics this week.
I learned how to use masking and brushes in iColorama this week. Which is what I did to the first 2 photos. Photoshop, I'm beginning to think I may not need you near as much as I thought.
My so-called 'original' was edited in Snapseed and a retrolux filter applied. Great for making wrinkles disappear.

You can guess this was done with the same original as the previous. I love to 'paint back in' after erasing in Repix. Then I did another image with edges in iColorama and blended them both in Blender. Perhaps a tutorial is in order.

I added 3 different 'lights' in Lenslight.
Such fun to play and play and play.

Insta Pics of the Week

Some of my favorite iPhone shots this week. You can follow me on Instagram if you wish. Some time I'll have mine set to private because of spammers. If you find that when you visit, just ask, I'll add you as a follower. I try to post which apps I've used in the hashtags. If I don't, I won't remember later...
And... lately I've started using BluxPro camera to shoot with and really like it. I'll save that for later. I only used it on one of these shots however.
We are celebrating our 17th anniversary today and taking a mini trip to the big city of Amarillo. We'll get to see our best friends. Yeah!
Everyone, have a blessed Sunday...

Peony Beginnings

I love their tight little buds. Seems the insects do too. As a child, ours always had ants crawling all over them.

5 Facts 10-12-12

5 Fact Friday is going on at Reflection of You Blog. Join us if you dare.
I got a new car this year and it's taking forever to locate and figure out the darn windshield wipers. (It NEVER rains here.) You would think I am getting old or something! We had a good bit of rain for several days a few weeks ago and I thought I had it down good, but no.... today it was raining and once again I fumbled around trying to avoid turning on the back one. Of course it didn't help that I was trying to take a photo with my phone of the windshield at the time. See photo 3. Frames available from Coppercurls Designs. All photos taken of my phone or iPad. Apps used, Camera Plus, Pic Grunger, Instagram.
