Friday Finds

Besides finding a lost love in the color red…

I actually found the inspiration to make a digital scrapbook kit. Part of that came from Amy's (Four Corners  Designs) luscious goodies I got in her mixed media package. (sigh….. maybe I should order the green one too.)

I'm finding a new appreciation for my 50mm lens. I've used it on the grand-daughter a lot this month. I even did a movie but unfortunately had turned it vertical before I realized what I was doing. I'm hoping I can rotate it in iMovie. They are just too precious. I'll do a little splice job on them soon and post it.

I walked into the house today to find a GORGEOUS vase with pink gerbers. It was actually a 'pitcher' that you'll see in lost of photos in the very near future. The light was too not right for a photo tonight. I'll just have to be patient and wait til morning. (I told hubby on Tuesday that he just needed to go get my flowers rather than have them wasting good time just sitting at the store. So he came through at least one day early.) He did good. I was shocked. I think I even squealed. I told him in 'passing' at the grocery store that I loved that pitcher. (They have an awesome gift department!)

I found out yesterday that the grand-daughter peed in the potty. Got a text and photo to prove it. She had moved her little potty chair into the living room on the carpet and was unrolling the toilet paper. Ten minutes later I got another text saying she did it again! She's 22 months. Last week she sat on the 'big potty' at our house with help and pulled off paper, wiped her nose and threw it behind her where it should go. She did that 4 times and 'Mia' said Yea, All done! Then we exited the room having made no sound of 'running water'.

Here she is featured with my new kit Organic Red. You can get it here if you like to do digital things. It's on sale and if you use the code blogbuddies2014 you get an additional 50% off any price. That code is good all year long, anytime, for anything.
A special thanks to my friend Viv who made up some page samples for me this week. Check out her blog here.

Watercolored Photos

I've always loved the look of watercolors. Mostly the ones that have left the edges white.
So I decided to make some Photoshop masks with that watercolor look.

They are now available in the shop. (Plus a new set of brushes)

A Promised Poppy

I promised a little info on a photo I posted on Facebook last week. I nearly forgot because of my iphonography obsession as of late.
I'm linking up with Texture Tuesday at the Cafe. Join us this summer for the Free and Easy Edition. Just use at least one of Kim's textures on a photo and link up.

I started with a lightened versioned of my SOOC shot.

First I added a sharpening layer using the Highpass filter, set on Overlay and masked to reveal the sharpening on just the flower.

Added kk_sonnet2, Softlight 90%, masked away most, but not all of the words from the petals and stem.
Added kk_Partings, Overlay 100% and masked it partially off to reveal the petals.
At this point, I didn't like the way the buds looked in the lower right corner.

Adding a blank layer above the Background layer and using the Clone Stamp tool,  I cloned them higher and nearly off the page.
I also touched up a few spots with the clone stamp tool in the upper left.

I had so much fun with this I did another.

I have a great sale on a bundled Spring kit this week. (through Thursday) Funky Brights Bundle is normally $9 but this week you can get it for only $3 at E-scapeandscrap. What a bargain!

If you'd like only the Clusters, they are on sale for just .99.

Here are a few scrapbook pages made with them.

an R will do

I've been working on my 'art' room (former sewing room) lately. I've repainted and rearranged a tiny bit. Put up shelves, etc, etc, but that's for another post. I'll have before and afters.
I had an idea while browsing Hobby Lobby a couple weeks back. I love 'letters', individual letters, and came across some that drew my attention. I'm particularly fond of 'a's and thought I should spell out 'art' on the wall.  I even knew right where I wanted to put it. Found the perfect A and T but couldn't find an r to suit my taste. Thought I could find a chip board r that wasn't a capitol, but no luck.
Well, surely I can figure out a way to make one myself. The other 2 letters where on a square background so the r should be cut out. I should do an 'altered art journal' type of r and would do it digitally. (After all that is my word this year.)
Sometime things just click and don't you love it when they do.
I was having so much fun, I may decide to make a whole alphabet. But when I finished, I just had to play with some layering and it ended up on a background too with fake brads holding it to a black mat board.
And now it didn't look right where I had originally planned to hang them, so I took a photo to 'move' the letters around in Photoshop. This even helped me to hang each one in the right place. In fact I plan to do this at work this month because it's time for some redoing there too.

PS: did you notice it says 2012? Oh, good grief!!!! And it is already March! (I may just leave it)
(Bits and pieces from some of my scrapbook kits.)

I am pleased with the results. Yeah! And the room is nearly finished. Hopefully I'll have a post later this week of before and afters.

Positive Metal Health

Our designers at E-scape and Scrap have a new collab in the store. We've made a ton of rustic metal elements for this kit. This month, with the purchase of $10 worth of product, you add it to your cart and it will be free a $6.99 Value. The designers have also made lots of add-on kits to compliment the elements (Check this category for those products). I've done a paper pack and made this layout of Hallie using one of the papers. Be sure your cart totals at least 16.99 and use this code to get the kit for free. MarchMetal

Texture the Baby

It's Texture Tuesday and I love using textures as backgrounds on some of my baby shots. Especially when I catch Hallie with some good 'white' space around her. This is Isobel by Kim Klassen. I think I set it to multiply and turned the opacity down a bit and erased it from her.
I've also added two layers of a brush from my Art Journal Kit, each in a different color from her skin tones.
Is she not sweet!?! And she's starting to walk!
Come on over to the Cafe for the free and easy edition with Kim Klassen.

Courtney's Digi Scrappin', she has lots of hand-drawn kits and ephemera.

AneczkaW   These were some of the papers I used in OLW Page 1. She has a great collection of papers in her store.

For a more vintage feel.... GreenEyedLady

Julie Mead has some great goodies. It's hard to pick what to buy first.

The 12 Days of Christmas -Day One

In 2009, I started making digital cards for the 12 days of Christmas and emailed them to friends and family. Since I didn't have a blog in those days, I shall post them this year. I repeated the tradition yearly, but alas, I ran out of ideas. So most of these will be from 2009 and maybe I'll through in an extra from 2010.
