A Small Poem

I'm involved in a writing group (don't laugh). This is my first poem in decades.
I saw this lone sunflower, wrote(dictated) as I sped down the road determined that I would stop on the way back from my 15 mile journey during rush hour traffic.

The Meandering Mind

I get up
I wander into the kitchen
I go over to my computer and sit down
I see a window open for Hipstamatic lenses
I flipped through some of the films
I noticed the Dali Museum pack
It had been discontinued
I had wanted it
But now I see it shows a price for .99
I go to the other room to get my phone
I go back to the kitchen
My phone opens up Instagram
I start cruising
I'm heating up milk for a Starbucks Mint Mocha single
I see Kim's post for Friday finds on Instagram
It's a new app she's found
I need to go look it up
I remember why I was getting on the computer
To go link my post to her post
I need to see if I can find that Dali Museum pack
I pause, to come write this down
Euwwww, my milk has a skin on the top
I take a picture of my drink
Back to Hipstamatic on phone
I get lost in FB
An hour later and I'm linked up
Hipstamatic, Salvador 84 Lens, Dream Canvas Film
I really like this next version too.
Bette XL Lens,  Dream Canvas Film

As you can see I've finally started decorating!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Someone Else's Jacket

Many romances began with the young man offering his jacket to the high school girl who pretended to be cold. Wearing his oversized coat had a way of making a girl feel of value, accepted, lovable, taken care of. To belong to something bigger than herself. It had a comforting feel… to be swallowed up in a 'too large' coat. Perhaps it was like putting on something of her father's.

Zip up Your Boots

Kim Klassen Nested texture.

A foot of thick fluffy white snow rested atop each and everything possible. Sparkles glistened where running water exposed itself near a bridge. After a 15 hour drive around a blizzard and a delay for an avalanche, we were finally there in Colorado celebrating the stark beauty of the blinding white-ness.

Silver Bracelet

My first ever silver bracelet was given to me as an adult by my sis-in-law and brother. It was a Christmas gift back in the day when we exchanged names. A bangle with narrow gold edges sported a beautifully tooled western-style design. Normally I didn't like that look in leather goods, but silver, ahhh… It was gorgeous. Donna has long since been gone from this earth due to cancer but I can still feel those same feeling as the day I received it. Worthy, valuable, loved. It was one of the few gifts I've received in my life that overwhelmed me. It's very tarnished now. Of course it was plated, not solid which speaks of the 'pretty' facade that if rubbed against enough times, will reveal the ugliness we desperately try to hide.

Journey

A new journey
Of Words
I know they're in there, can they just get to the paper by them selves?
No, take the first step
Go ahead the left foot said to right foot
"Go ahead", she A said to she B
