Mobile Art Monday No. 55

Today is a Procreate day! Once you learn what this app is capable of, you can do just about anything with it. (I'm hoping to do some video recording to explain parts of it in the future.)

This week I did a little art journaling piece. I had written this in my 'journal' (Notes App) last week and was trying to figure out what I would do for a ballerina to turn it it some art.
I have always wanted to turn some flowers into skirts so when I saw the dill in my camera roll I figured it might work.

Originally I did all the writing in Procreate and was so proud of myself. (You can see in the video that I used a grid to help keep the writing straight and uniformly spaced. Then later deleted the grid layer.)

But I just wasn't happy with it.

I knew Snapseed had added text in a recent update so why not try it.
I exported a version from Procreate without the writing.
I felt this looked much better. I liked the font, the only thing I didn't like was that I had to do each line separate because it would not do a return. Since you can go back and edit each 'edit' in Snapseed, it made a long list of text 'layers'. This is good if you need to reposition something or change it's size or color. I also added a touch of Image Tuning to the final piece.

Does it bother me that she has no arms? 

No. She's probably still working on that restraint issue.

Beauty

My second 'mixed media' type piece. I'm taking several classes this year some of which don't have anything to do with the others, but somehow they are melding together and I'm creating mixed media type work in Photoshop (and some on my iPad in Procreate.)

Scrapping Goodies -Painterly Style

I spent most of the month of January working on a collaborative scrapbook kit with Julie Mead for February's feature 'free with purchase' kit. I started out painting and using my Gelli plate to make a lot of backgrounds and I must say between that and Photoshop and Procreate on my iPad I've had a blast!
Since today is Tuesday we have a treat in the shop. My new Magnificent Mayhem Overlays are half price. (Unfortunately Julie's computer is giving her fits to the point that she is driving 2 hours today to the closest Mac store to buy a new one. That means the E-scape and Scrap newsletter for Tuesday will be late. But the sale won't won't!)

Mobile Art Monday No. 36

It's ok to have Mobile Art Monday on Tuesday once in awhile, right? As I mentioned last week, I'm taking a class from the amazing Robin and Ivy called Paint and Pixels. I rarely spend that much on a class but my heart was going in this direction at the time and it turned out to be soon very worth it. They give their all and there is so much information and content. It's one of those classes that I have to really pay attention because a lot of it is new territory for me.

This is my first mobile art journal page. 

I made the 'background' with Mextures, Repix and Procreate. This exercise was then supposed to be printed, then used actual paint to finish the piece. Since I'm not a big painter I decided to just play with the paints and brushes in Procreate.

One of the nice things about Procreate is that you can export the 'in process' video. (at any time) It still amazes me every time I watch it. That I actually did this. 

I'm excited to do more but I have a show to get ready for in a month. Who knows, I may just put this in the show for grins.

Class Week One AOP

I've been scrapping the past three days. Mostly because of a class by Amanda Taylor The Art of Photographs. I really should be working on calendars but I did print these pages for Jan and February so I would know what day it was at work.

I must say I like this digital journalling thing. My Gelli Plate arrived a few days ago and I haven't opened it yet. (hasn't helped that I've been sick.)
I've actually been able to keep up with my online classes this fall. (Except for one...) The Art of Journalling by Amanda Taylor has been fabulous. She is an awesome teacher and her art is mind blowing. I don't know how she thinks of all the things she does. This my last assignment. But I will be doing more of this. I'll just have to go through my portrait pics to find some that will work. Fortunately my granddaughter has grown more hair the past few months because I really want to do one of her for her mom.
