Friday Finds Feb 28

I'm 'finding' my way back to doing a little homework this week.

The trouble is sometime I get carried away and can't stop. Just having too much fun I guess. Awhile back Kim had lessons for (1) logos in Beyond Beyond. I had made sketches a couple weeks ago and this week finally played and played and made some into brushes and then actions and started making Watermark presets in Lightroom to export with…. If you make one for the left, then right, and one in black , then white…. you could write a song…. It will take me forever to get all those presets made. I must narrow it down to my most favorites. Here's a shot of all of them. Since I do design work too that's really what started this. I was needing a new logo. That one's been decided on but, you'll be seeing a few random ones on my photos for awhile.
I've been watching (2) Creative Live Photoshop Week as much as possible this week. Loosing sleep to see missed parts. :( But if I don't try out a few things they will not stick in my brain. So I've been editing a few pics and that is also why I've been making watermark presets.
Some more homework for 2B class. (My wonderful valentines present.)

(3) I love shooting flowers by the kitchen window. They always look like they want to go outside.

I should have cropped more off the bottom of this one. Funny how they sometimes look different after a few days.
(4) I found these cool dancers while driving through part of town I hadn't been in awhile. Shot from the car. I just happened to have my camera in the car and was stopped at a long red light. Note to self: go back.
(5) My poor artichoke's leaves all froze this winter, but while cleaning dead stuff away I found not only new growth but a covered up old flower that was full of seeds. Yes, it was time to dig out the Olloclip. Edited in Snapseed.

Beyond Beyond Day 40 and Friday Finds

I'm linking up with Friday Finds today at Kim's. This week I'm finding all kinds of good organic gluten free type foods in our town and learning to cook differently. It is a challenge I am up for since reading so much about how gluten and Omega 6 fats are killing Americans. I'll probably be posting more food pictures and a few recipes as time goes on. If anyone is interested one book to read is called Grain Brain.
Another challenge:
This week Kim challenged us to edit some of our iPhone photos in Lightroom rather than on our phones and she gave us one to play with also. Here are a few from last fall.

Plus this cow photo from the Hillcountry. I should have cropped more from the right and cloned out the fence post but I kind of liked it like this.
Here is Kim's photo. before and after.

I must admit I'm usually up for a challenge!
Have a great weekend. Mine will spent cooking and cleaning out more closets. Maybe my word for the year should have been 'purge'.

A Long(horn) Shot

What are my chances that I would drive by this longhorn steer just at the point he would be in the right position to grab this cool shot? 1:1000000000. There are only a few points around this small pasture that one can even get a shot without it being through a chain link fence. And this is in the city no less. Lucky me, I met my friend on her side of town for lunch this week. I really should get out of my 3 mile radius more often.
The first is edited in Lightroom with a vintage style preset. The second is with Kim's copper preset from Beyond Beyond class.

Beyond Beyond Day 2 Part one

A photo supplied by Kim and we were to edit however we wanted.  I decided I was up to the challenge for a  B&W.

 Her original.
My layers panel.
I used the channel to make my B&W.
Added her texture 0101.
Merged my layers to do some cloning and healing.
Played with the text which is Faustina Font, available here.
