1. What am I working on?
The absolute most recent thing I've been working on is my back patio. We replaced everything this weekend except for one flowerpot. The last bench took three hours to assemble and I'm glad that was the last thing because someone's patience was wearing thin and so was his deodorant.
As far as art goes however, this last month has been filled with setting up a lot of still life photos. I've photo bombed everywhere with my peony photos. And I still have a few more to go. I also have a lens baby lens this year to get familiar with and flowers are what I've been waiting for.
And I always have an iPhone photo waiting to turn into art with an app on my iPad.
2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?
If you look around enough I suppose you'll find that much of what I create will look like someone else's somewhere. If I were to compare myself to my local photography friends I'd have to say mine is more artsy where theirs is more traditional. (Especially the iphoneography) As far as my digital art is concerned, I have swung from the traditional to more of the art journal funky stuff.
3. Why do I write/create what I do?
I create what I do because I was born to. My mind has to at least be creating everyday if my hands are not. (This makes being still very hard.) Or is this question specifically about 'what' I create? Mostly I work in phases and right now it's photography. My last phase was digital scrapbooking and designing. I spend a smaller amount of time on that these days but haven't given it up totally. Other phases have been quilting, (the longest one) gardening (that will always be with me), cross-stitch, and sewing clothing. I'm trying to do a little mixed media but just seem to be collecting supplies I'm not sure what to do with.
Why do I do what I do? Because I love the challenge of creating something unique.

4. How does your writing/creating process work?
As far as my photography goes…. I fly by the seat of my pants a lot. I probably know one fourth of what I should about it. But I know an awful lot about Lightroom and Photoshop to make a not so great image look better.
When it comes to digital imagery it often evolves around an experience, emotion, sometimes one word or just a new technique I'm wanting to try out. It's a lot of trial and error with different brushes, overlays, etc. auditioning for a part in the piece.
My patience is also not what it used to be. If I've spent a few hours on a project… it's time to finish up and move on. That's one reason I've jumped on the iPhone art wagon. You can make cool stuff in a few minutes to a couple hours.
I believe it is important to be able to do what your heart is passionate about.

Stacie Spencer at Stacie Jewelry
Stacie started creating jewelry for her company Stacie Jewelry about 15 years ago when her son was 2 years old. She was working in the corporate world and wanted to find something that she could do at home so that she could spend more time with her son. A friend showed her how to make a simple pair of silver wire and bead earrings and she just kept going! Over the years her style has evolved from beading to creating her own silver pieces using PMC because the possibilities of creating are endless.
