Mobile Art Monday No. 37

The struggle continues among some as to whether to post images taken with dslrs to Instagram. Yes, it started out as a mobile platform but has morphed into 'big business'. If you teach classes and sell products, you can grab a lot of customers there. As a result more people are posting high quality photos. Sometimes it's hard to compete with such. Especially since I have one foot in the 'regular mobile' world and another in the 'still life' world (although that one has been on hold for several weeks as I've focused on my art for the November show).
One thing I like to do however, is a bit of a compromise. I'll load a few raw files from my camera to my iPad then edit them in favorites such as Mextures or Stackables. You can also transfer photos from your computer via Dropbox to get them onto your iPad. I have to admit, this is more fun than Photoshop (I hate to say). Here are a few from last week.

I took a detour out through the Slaton Canyon on the way to pick up hubby and found this Woodpecker munching away. I was very glad I had my camera with the 70-300 on it.

As I write this, I realize I haven't transferred these from my camera to my computer. In fact I'm at an all time low on the number of photos I've taken for October. Fall never arrives before November so I'm sure I'll make up for it this month.

Have a great week and if you haven't backed up your images from your phone or iPad lately.... go do it NOW!

  2. Your edits are really inspiring Roxi! I haven't thought of the possibility of editing the DSLR-photos with iPad ~ that's a great idea ... I prefer also iPhone to Photoshop in creative editing, so why not use it also with the big camera images!

  3. I am always moving my photos and really do like to edit on my ipad more than my phone. But the issue about the photo coming from your phone or camera I got over. That is what was holding me back. And yes, if I was able to get out and do more with my phone I would... but I am fine with either. But I do use apps to edit. Anyway... good luck with your show!

  4. I have been using my IPhone exclusively for months. I may never go back. Florida is hard to photo so I have come to the conclusion I need to use apps. Having a great time lately. My favorite is the second butterfly.

  5. I also have been using my iPhone exclusively lately. I really want to use my dslr more, but then...I see something I want to photograph, and my phone is in my pocket, and the dslr is...at home in its case. The phone has limitations that are sometimes frustrating, but often I get images that make me really happy, and I love the spontaneity of it. That said, though, your photos here are wonderful and wouldn't be possible to capture with an iPhone. They are the kind of images I miss taking. I especially like the woodpecker on the fence--both versions. I also wanted to tell you how much I LOVE your beautiful fall header!

  6. I am so over the debate. I use whatever I feel is right for the day, and the look that I want. Traveling it is much easier to use the iPhone and post on IG, especially when I am working on a project.
